Beach Buns, by Jill Ciccone Pike
Flora Lea Louden’s “Messages from the Mermaids” features her hand made books. She says, ” Most of the books I make do not have ‘content’ in the way we typically know and understand. You may see a pattern in the paper & fiber I use, as I see text and pattern in nature. Long walks on the beach collecting worn and weathered shells, shards embedded with text, a new language for me. I call them ‘messages from the mermaids’ and they whisper vague tales of all things intangible. Perhaps a coincidental fragment touches you. If so, honor the moment and record your messages in the gift of a book.”
