Winnie Ferguson: ‘Cat’n Around’
Cats have always been a part of my life but since the death of our old
friend “Milton” (at the age of 21), I began to add more cats to my
paintings. I have used cats I have loved and known, incorporating them
into many settings. I hope viewers can recall their own feline friends
as they enjoy my show this year.
Acrylic and oil are my media of choice for this show. Although I enjoy
palette knife for some work, these pieces are all painted with the
traditional brushes and paint. I have incorporated a sitting kitty on
a stone fence watching a grazing sheep in an Irish field, and my own red
tabby, Eubie, overseeing the sales at the Farmer’s Market in Raleigh.
I’m just cat’n around.

Monica Hunter: ‘The Brite and the Beautiful’
I was asked to make earrings to be presented as a gift to Vice President Joe Biden during his visit to Cree headquarters on March 18th, 2010 . The earrings showcase one of the LED products manufactured by Cree, located in Durham, North Carolina.
Here is a photo of one of the pairs that I fabricated from sterling silver, 22kt gold overlay, and Cree LEDs.
Earrings are “Brite Lites” in honor of the Cree LED .
