Join us for a special 3-day workshop to learn how to construct a fabulously fantastical lantern for Cary’s Under the Silver Moon lantern parade.
Facilitated by artists Gowri Savoor and Angelo Arnold, this unique 3-day intensive gives artists, art teachers, and creatives an opportunity to learn about large-scale structures to spearhead a parade. Participants will explore techniques such as design, construction, embellishment, lighting, and carrying methods.
Days 1-2 will include design and fabrication. Day 3 includes papering and embellishment.
This year’s theme: Our Town
Participants are encouraged to work in groups. Most materials are included. This workshop is not suitable for children.
Maximum capacity per workshop: 20
The experience will culminate in a celebration of light parade in Downtown Cary Park on January 10, 2025.
