Meet the Artist: Friday, October 30 | 6 – 8 p.m.
Medium: Pysanky eggs
Sara Gatilogo made her first Pysanky egg at the age of seven and has been enamored with the ancient tradition ever since. These detailed works of art are created by layering wax and dye to create intricate designs. Originally from Eastern Europe, this art form is where the modern tradition of dyeing Easter eggs originated. Creating intricate pieces of art from a humble egg shell is a wonderful testament to how people will make art with whatever materials they have available. Sara is inspired by the rich history of symbolism in Pysanky designs and also enjoys combining those traditions with a modern twist.
