Each sun catcher is an original piece and entirely random in design. Many things are considered when placing the pieces inside the jig such as the color, the directions of the striations, also the size and translucency of the stones are all considered in no particular order. Sometimes there will be a pattern either on purpose or at random. It all depends on the stones at hand and the whim of the maker. Colors and stones are spaced out in an effort to make things in the pattern stand out and make the piece interesting to look upon.
