Textural Investigations is an exhibition of works on paper, all based on rubbings. I make the rubbings from a texture matrix, a large wall collage in my studio created with paper, tape, and other recycled materials. The resulting works include mixed media rubbings, wax pastel rubbings, and collages. Rubbings are obviously explorations of surface and texture, but they also reveal what exists beneath the surface.
